Studio RTA Computer Desk 13131

April 21st, 2010

Studio RTA Computer Desk 13131 I’ve owned this desk for nearly 4 years. Since buying it for myself I have purchased one for my Father who gets allot of use out of it. Now I’m buying one for my daughter. The Keyboard tray is large enough for a full size keyboard and there is plenty of room for the mouse as well. The trays on the outside of the desk for the printer and the computer leave plenty of room underneath for me to stretch out. The construction is sturdy with a metal frame and glass top. The keyboard tray and back piece are both covered particle board. I have moved 3 times since my purchase and the desk still looks good. I don’t have a single complaint about the desk. I definitely recommend this if your needs are simple. Studio RTA: Computer Desk by Studio RTA Malibu Collection – The Malibu Computer Desk is the perfect workstation for your home or officeenvironment. It has a large glass worksurface and two adjustable height shelves forCPU and printer storage. Also features steel frame construction for durability, tempered glass for safety, a rear privacy panel added for rigidity, and floor levelers for stability on uneven surfaces. Top Five 800# Gorillas to Be Faced by Today’s Management and Leadership

April 20th, 2010

Management in the 21st century faces a lot of known obstacles from global market competition to the impact of technology. Yet, for some reason, these five 800# gorillas (challenges) continue to be present. And the bad news is that they drain profits, performance and overall business results.

#! – Entitlement

With the federal government taking action since the 1930’s to help its citizens through such legislation such as social security, a sense of entitlement has percolated up from the lower economic populations to the middle class. Young people leave college expecting big bucks and being VP in less than 2 years because they are entitled to these rewards. After all, this is why they went to college.

#2 – Ethics or Values

From the sense of entitlement, this has affected overall ethics or values. Because I am entitled, I should not have to demonstrate certain ethics or values in the workplace. This frequent question appears to be asked: With bad behaviors being rewarded or ignored why should I have to be ethical? After all I just cheated once or twice and that was Okay because everyone else did it.

#3 – Productivity

The first two gorillas have created this third one. Productivity is down. Research suggests that the U.S. companies lose somewhere close to $800 billion each year due to wasted time. And challenging someone on wasting time is tantamount to a personal insult and maybe even worth an unfair labor complaint. You mean you want me to work for my salary?

#4 – Personal Accountability and Responsibility

This gorilla is probably far more than just a measly 800#. When individuals grow up supported in an environment where there are no winners, everyone is the same, blame someone else for your failure (It’s not my fault I was not valedictorian) and you mean I need to work before I fill out my time card, the end result is no personal accountability and responsibility.

#5 – Human Capital

With these four other challenges facing management, finding high quality human capital is becoming increasingly difficult. Between the baby boomers retiring, immigration restrictions on qualified workers and far fewer individuals entering critical fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), the leadership in many organizations is grappling with how to fill employee gaps. These challenge extends into growth and innovation and restricts the future of many companies.

Management and leadership need to stop hiding from these challenges and face them head on. Through the use of performance appraisals focusing on talents and decision making to the enforcement of existing policy and procedures, these 800# challenges in the room can be reduced to 80# then 8# then 8 ounces.

Business Outsourcing – How IT Services Help Build Businesses

April 19th, 2010

Outsourcing for couple of years now, it’s good to see how my business has changed progressively after learning through all ups and downs of experiences. Additionally, it is better that I am not envisioning these capabilities alone – with all those big networks of entrepreneurs, resources, referrals and affiliates, there have been more and more growing businesses which also have switched to outsourcing are giving themselves this big break to seek help from all other expert firms around foreign areas. Not getting too general to talk about outsourcing benefits as a whole, let me share with you this much larger part of outsourcing which has come a long way to serve entrepreneurs – IT services.

What are IT services in particular?

Wikipedia defines IT or information technology as “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information.”

Indeed, information technology is all about the backend of how blogging to creating campaigns works into business. Through the implementation of computer applications, these IT people are able to provide customer support solutions to businesses by setting up a support ticketing system, provide earnings by creating and promoting e-commerce websites, automate SEO by building micro websites and doing keyword research, protect and backup database, store customer information, create new software and so forth. These are all crucial covering technical and advanced ways of delivering information to the public. Some may hire a programmer while some may also work with a firm to mechanize all tasks that could be done at the same time.

Moreover, this is the reason why the information technology field has been bombarded with companies seeking help to execute their projects and build core competencies among others. By not only improving blogging itself with a valuable content, outsourcing IT services would help a website not only to build thousands of community reading it but also to make them “buy” the service that they would also like to achieve to be able to see how all content work.

What are the benefits of IT outsourcing?

Cost Effectiveness

Firstly, companies and sole entrepreneurs do outsource IT services because it could cut costs on cheaper locations such as the Philippines. I’m not talking about the initial stages of spending money finding for the right service providers since it does cost a lot from the start but let’s talk about how entrepreneurs experience the production stage of already working with them.

As Philippines has already enhanced their IT solutions through recent technological advances and studies, it has been one of the most common cost effective outsourcing havens nowadays. There, you could find great programmers and IT specialists whom you can pay for at least $300-$350 per month full time at the start of the working process. When it comes to receiving the same amount of quality service from in-house employees, outsourcing these tasks to foreign IT service providers could not only save costs on equipment maintenance but it also free up time directly managing them and eying on what they’re supposed to do on a daily basis. Such project management systems and time tracking software ever created would always help keep the business from running in place.

Contractual Aspects

Outsourcing is risky as you transfer responsibilities to a certain firm or human resource while you also expect better service in return although what makes outsourcing carefully evaluated before a project will be dealt is through the sign off process and setting the requirements. It’s been recommended that no project will be started over without clear agreements regarding payment, project management, resources to use, efficiency of the workforce, etc. on both sides between the client and the service provider. Additionally, it’s a more professional way of maintaining good relationships to offshore environments while also ensuring that entrepreneurs are paying the price.

Dealing with IT Project Managers

IT services do have their own project managers who are responsible of tracking project status on ongoing tasks and accomplished ones, tracking deadlines and things that would revolve around the whole project information may take place. They are the ones who make all technical projects visibly managed in place because most of the times, projects involved do lack visibility or physical representations on how projects go on progress, so with them, notifying schedules will be just as easy as an email away.

Eying on changes

Reliable IT services do allow entrepreneurs to be aware of any variations that may happen in every project. It could be about the downtime in the system, an upgrade of software, change in scripts or anything that may be technically affecting an ongoing project. With the help of their online tools, entrepreneurs will have an eye for every progress, or any new feature coming in that’ll need their initial evaluation and approval before a change takes place. Definitely, this real-time capacity experienced is one energy-saving aspect of not working alone.

Service Level Agreements (SLA)

As I already mentioned changing processes which are all involved in information technology and business improvement, IT service providers are responsible for showing entrepreneurs their set measurable SLAs for any request handling and maintenance occurring in a project. This way, it can be easier for an entrepreneur to decide if he should be able to go for that change or allow more options that will suit their work. Once all has been set and done, all information are ensured agreed beforehand.

Outsourcing IT Services Getting In Demand

As IT remains one of the most crucial parts of the business, it’s also the main reason why the information technology support has been needed by most entrepreneurs to leverage their business opportunities – and outsourcing them for instance, can give them more automated results by getting free resources when hiring them, reducing overheads and also minimizing capital expenditure when it comes to fixed infrastructure investments. With IT services in place, you don’t have to worry about investing a lot of money providing all systems and technologies and manage projects on your own. As you’ve got more time prioritizing targets on customer satisfaction, receiving outsourced IT services makes it a lot easier to deliver customer support and enact plans, methodologies and maximize consulting expertise even offline.
